Over the years, we’ve all learned about the Doctor’s adventures - the planets he visited, the races he saved, the aliens he pissed off big time. Much of his past, however, is still clouded. Or, rather, was.

Here we travel back in time, to the days before the lasts hints of the Time War, before the Master and the Doctor became arch-nemesis - when they still belonged to the Deca, and dreamt of having a band.

You’ve seen the future.

Watch here how it all started.

John Hurt theory

My theory is that John Hurt is actually D9. The Doctor regenerated before the time war, into the person who had to take drastic measures to stop it. This person did not choose to call himself the Doctor because he didn’t keep his promise. He did what he had to do to end the war, but they weren’t the actions of the man he wanted to be. This is the Doctor’s secret… Matt Smith is the twelfth doctor. John Hurt was the ninth that he kept a secret because of his shame.

It just doesn’t make sense for John Hurt to be the twelfth doctor because the Doctor already knows who he is, and what he has done. It’s his secret.

The Name of the Doctor

Okay, I have been really frustrated with Moffat’s writing recently. It seems like he’s trying too hard. It doesn’t have the same level of cleverness as the other seasons. But after this episode, I have to say that I think it’s just the filler episodes that do that. When Moffat wants to be a genius, he’s a freaking genius. This episode was just brilliant! From the moment it started with Clara talking to the older doctors I was so engaged. River coming back this way was fantastic. She’s fantastic. Her and the Doctor together made me so happy. The episode was suspenseful and exciting… It made me cry a few times (some from being sad, some from being happy, some from just feeling overwhelmed). There are some episodes of Doctor Who that make my brain hurt because of timey wimey stuff, and there are some that make my heart hurt. But this one managed to do both, in a perfect balance with the humor that was thrown in (kissing River when no one else could see her). I’m very satisfied with what happened, what it built up to, the reasoning behind the impossible girl, and the cliffhanger. And also, I still think the theme is the best one ever because it incorporates Classic Who with newer stuff and it’s just perfect :)
